SGH Asian Studies: PRENGO Class

　Ritsumeikan Asian Pacific University has many affiliated student clubs. One of which is a student-lead NGO called PRENGO. The student members of PRENGO gave our students a lecture in the Asian Studies class within the JB course. We started this guest lecture last year, so this year we had two students from Thailand and two students from Indonesia, for a total of six students who came to our school to give special lectures.

Class Content
1) To introduce APU the Thai and Indonesian students presented in English and Japanese.
2) Group Work: Think of Project Development
We decided to do our project in the Mahad region of Thailand where PRENGO is currently active. We focused our project on Educational Development which was started two years ago. This was an excellent project for our students to reevaluate their educational importance and possibilities through this.

Student Comments
　By thinking about the importance of poverty in other countries, we had to think about priorities and what is most important. We could learn the importance of thinking about extraordinary issues in Japan.

　I learned about why areas in Thailand are poor due to poor environmental areas. It was difficult to think of ways to solve poor environments, but through this Thailand study trip, I want to think about what I can do to help them.

　The PRENGO lecture that we took part in was extremely fun for me because we discussed various things, heard different lectures from people from different countries, and exchanged our ideas over various topics. I’m not good and discussions, but it was a great experience for me.
